Detroit Tigers Vinyl Lover Day

Comerica Park – Detroit, MI 9/24/2017

I don’t often find myself in a baseball stadium. In fact, prior to this Tigers game the last game I attended was a Texas Rangers game over 10 years ago. However, Sunday the 24th was a special day at Comerica Park. If you’ve read some of my other posts, or watched any of my YouTube videos, you know that I’m a big fan of what the guys and gals over at Third Man Records do. Jack White being the baseball fan that he is, even owning part of the baseball centered company Warstic, decided to partner up with his home team to release a limited edition Tigers themed 7″ record.

The Tigers offered a limited amount of “Vinyl Lover” packages, which included a ticket to the game as well as a voucher to redeem for 1 limited edition record. These packages sold out fairly quickly. As of yet, the

record was only available on that day and only to people who had pre-purchased the package. Vouchers had to be surrendered at a special booth on the third tier of the stadium to receive the collectible. The

record is a double A-side, with one side featuring an interview conducted by Jack White with Tigers’ Hall of Fame member Kirk Gibson. This side is meant to be a new addition to Third Man Records’ Green Series. The flip side features an original single recorded by The Brushoffs, a band comprised of Detroit artistsBrendan Benson, Dominic Davis, Ben Blackwell and Olivia Jean. The record itself is on a beautiful, Tigers color, orange and blue split vinyl.

It was a hot one in Detroit. Even though the Tigers ultimately fell to the Minnesota Twins, I walked away with a pretty sweet record!
